Sergino Dest has already decided on Arsenal transfer amid Barcelona financial woes

Arsenal target Sergiño Dest has made a decision about his future, saying he intends to stay at Barcelona despite the club’s financial difficulties, Catalan radio RAC 1 reports via SPORT.

The USA international was an emerging target for the Gunners as Mikel Arteta began planning his life in the Emirates without Hector Bellerin following the longtime defender’s transfer request.

However, Barca right-back Dest will not be the one to replace him.

Speaking to RAC 1, Dest was very clear that he wanted to stay at the Blaugrana club despite the club signing Brazilian right-back Emerson from Real Betis this summer for £ 9million, which adds to the already healthy competition from Barcelona mainstay Sergi Roberto.

Dest said: “I want to continue at Barca.”

Although Dest’s admission to remain in Spain has been made clear, Barcelona’s financial situation means the door has been left open for any further inquiries regarding the defender’s services.

With a silver lining at the end of the tunnel, Edu can continue chasing the American as Barcelona may be forced to get rid of Dest.

Interest in a new right-back and Bellerin’s transfer request follow several factors at London Colney.

Arteta was not impressed with Spain’s right-back, despite the Arsenal boss awarding Bellerin the captain title, in addition to growing interest from Inter Milan, CalcioMercato reports via the Express.

Bellerin, who has been with the Gunners since 2011, played 35 times last season in a disappointing campaign that ended with the Gunners in eighth place in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old now looks set to help the windfall that will fund the introduction of Ben White and Albert Sambi Lokonga to the Emirates.
