Haroon, a 25-year-old who arrived here just five days before the Taliban takeover, told ANI: âI came to India to study on August 10, I have my family back in Afghanistan and I am facing to a huge financial crisis to survive and make a living, I work in a restaurant here.
When asked if he would return, Haroon replied hesitantly: âUntil the Taliban control Afghanistan, I will not come back. If they see my India visa, I’ll be in trouble.
Shakib, 27, who worked for the Afghan police, fled to India a few months ago, said: âThe situation is not right there, six months ago everything was fine, but then this, the Taliban attacked those wearing the uniform. I had no choice but to flee the country. I don’t have a lot of work here and the rent for the accommodation is also very high but I’m still happy with the Indian government.
The Afghan national does not want to return to his country of origin until the Taliban take control.
Recounting his ordeal, Nasib, a 24-year-old who arrived in India on August 13, said he fled the country after learning that the Taliban had started capturing large provinces like Herat and Kandahar.
Meanwhile, the Taliban, who captured Kabul on August 15, are delaying announcing the formation of the government in Afghanistan.
Nasib said: âWe used to have jobs in Afghanistan before the Taliban took control, but after they came to power we didn’t have a job. I don’t have a lot of money, I survive on the money I brought with me. I will not go to Afghanistan until the Taliban are there.
